Finance and HR Manager Description

Our client in the manufacturing industry is seeking a Director of Finance and HR to join their team in Mississauga, ON. This is a newly created role due to the company’s rapid growth and overall need for an additional member of leadership to help continue to drive profitable operations forward. This is a hands-on role, reporting directly to the President, and is responsible for ensuring financial integrity and supporting HR and IT processes, ensuring functionality. You will initially focus on implementing HR policies and ensuring proper documentation is being followed across all department managers; but the overall primary focus of this role, will be on leading strategic financial planning, compliance, and operations while managing day-to-day finances, including job costing and budgeting, and will oversee one direct report, Bookkeeper / HR Administrator. Finance and HR Manager Responsibilities

  • Oversee financial operations and support human resources and IT functions
  • Generate accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
  • Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and internal controls
  • Analyze financial performance; provide insights and recommendations for improvement
  • Develop financial strategies aligned with company goals
  • Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making
  • Optimize funding and compliance for government grants and academia partnerships
  • Manage 1 direct report in the role of Bookkeeper / HR Administrator
  • Manage communication with IT vendor, ensuring reliability, security and functionality
  • Oversee HR initiatives including recruitment, retention, and policy management
  • Create, implement and maintain performance policies, procedures, and documentation
  • Equip managers and employees with tools and knowledge for effective implementation
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and year-end audits

Finance and HR Manager Qualifications

  • 4+ years of cost accounting experience in manufacturing required
  • 4+ years of financial leadership experience of $5MIL or more in revenue required
  • Experience preparing financial statements and balance sheets required
  • Experience with financial reporting & cost analysis, budgets and forecasting required
  • Human resources administration experience required
  • Proficiency with ERP software and Excel required
