Casual Recycling Facility Attendant I

Overview

Casual Recycling Facility Attendant I opportunities are available in Solid Waste Operations within the Recycling & Waste Management Division of the Operations Department. Reporting to the Manager, Solid Waste Operations and supervised by the Recycling Facility Attendant V or Recycling Facility Attendant IV (as applicable) the Recycling Facility Attendant I contributes to the effective operation of CVRD Recycling facilities by primarily assisting the public in depositing their waste and recyclables in the appropriate area(s), performing tasks to ensure those materials and the overall facility are well maintained in order to provide a safe and convenient environment, and by providing relief support to other facility team staff.

Qualifications

Compensation and Schedule

This casual opportunity has no guaranteed hours of work per week, and may work up to 40 hours per week. Shifts are scheduled based on operational need. The successful applicant must be available to work a flexible schedule that includes a variety of days and hours per week.

Union and Benefits

This position is unionized (USW Local 1-1937) with a Step 1 wage rate of $31.37 per hour and a Step 2 wage rate of $33.21 per hour (2026 wage rates), plus an additional 14.5% pay in lieu of vacation, benefits and stat holidays.
