About Our Opportunity

Reporting to the Program Manager and Senior Caseworker the Caseworker is responsible for the delivery administration and management of all grants loans and mortgage programs offered to help lower-income households maintain acquire or rent safe adequate and affordable housing. Responsibilities also include the administration of the Operating Agreements which support Social and Non-Profit housing projects.

Primary Accountabilities

You are accountable for effective workload management so that on a timely basis applicants are provided the opportunity to establish eligibility for financial assistance to carry out repairs renovations and adaptations to their homes as well as mortgage financing for repair purchase or construction of residential dwellings. You prepare financial analysis of audited financial statements conduct comprehensive financial and operational reviews of social housing projects and calculate subsidies for housing co-ops in the regional portfolio. Related responsibilities also include drafting reports and consulting with stakeholders concerning intervention strategies to ensure the ongoing viability of the social housing project.

Qualifications and Experience

You have completed a related bachelors degree in business or financial administration or have an equivalent combination of education training and experience.

You have experience in property management; mortgage loan and grant administration; budgeting financial analysis and interpretation along with knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and basic finance concepts including accounting ratios and internal controls. General knowledge of mortgage lending is an asset.

Knowledge and skill in working with a diverse client base is necessary andyou must have effective interviewing interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills along with project management skills and a demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision within a team environment. Strong writing skills are required to prepare reports and financial analysis as is the ability to make sound decisions which is the most critical aspect of this position.

Proficient computer skills in word processing spreadsheet and database software are essential. Familiarity with co-operative housing and provincial home repair programs is an asset.

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools : written examination standardized tests oral presentations interview(s) and reference checks.

• A completed related 2-year diploma along with two (2) years of related experience; and
• Four (4) years of related experience.

You must have patience and tact to respond to complaints from social housing boards members and the public regarding property conditions subsidy renewals etc. Physical and mental stamina and energy to handle pressure in dealing with caseload demands is essential.

Additional Information

This position requires employment screening consistent with the Canada Revenue Agencys security requirements for roles that access CRA data under a data-sharing agreement. Candidates progressing to an offer must complete both a Criminal Record Check and a Financial Credit Check.

Occasional travel to various worksite locations may be required.

This is a TERM employment opportunity with an anticipated end date of April 8 2027 . The appointment status (term temporary or casual) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.
