Senior Industrial Designer

Industrial designers are involved in all aspects of product development, from ideation to launch. Senior industrial designers carry similar responsibilities but with a higher level of achievement and maturity in design and decision‑making, guiding the team with strong creative ideation and technical development skills to drive projects to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to all phases of product development, including ideation, design, technical development, and prototyping
- Provide strategic and creative vision while mentoring and guiding team members
- Lead ideation research and brainstorming sessions to generate innovative product ideas or improve existing processes
- Work on research, design, and improvement projects for existing products
- Stay updated on market trends and product regulations
- Participate in defining product specifications and design criteria
- Conduct preliminary research on context, competitors, materials, suppliers, and services during development and prototyping
- Communicate ideas and concepts effectively using appropriate tools
- Perform 3D modeling and assembly to support production and installation drawings
- Create 2D graphic design to support presentations or product customization for manufacturing
- Conduct and/or supervise testing of approved or prototype models
- Ensure product functionality, style, compliance with standards, and safety
- For select projects, take full responsibility for planning, coordination, and execution alongside the group lead and R&D project manager to meet innovation, quality, budget, and timeline objectives
- Maintain a strong focus on user experience throughout the development process
- Collaborate with marketing, sales, engineering, and operations teams during development
- Serve as a resource for the sales team to validate and share product information
- Contribute to team development as a mentor, assisting peers as needed
Knowledge
- Strong mastery of the product development process and knowledge of relevant markets
- Familiarity with ideation techniques, including brainstorming
- Understanding of manufacturing methods and technologies related to steel, polymers, and composite materials
- Knowledge of product development processes, including Stage Gate (PDP) and eco‑design principles
- Familiarity with applicable design, usage, installation, layout, and safety standards (ASTM, CSA, ADA, EN, etc.)
- Software: SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office
- Fluent in English and French (spoken and written). Intermediate level of English is required.

- Proficiency in English is required for this role as approximately 20% of the responsibilities involve regular communication with stakeholders based in the United States and Europe.
