As a Senior Civil Design Engineer, you will join our Guelph or Mississauga, Ontario office as part of ourEastern Surface Water team.
The successful applicant willlead and support a variety of projects including feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed design,construction and monitoring, that span multiple disciplines across Matrix.
We are looking to hire a motivated individual with demonstrated experience leading and delivering projects on schedule and on budget.
The successful applicant will be involved with water resource focused projects with responsibilities as follows :
Provide engineering leadership for ongoing and expanding mining and energy sector project work related to water resources, ecologicalrestoration and environmental complianceobjectives.
Collaborate directly with private and public sector clients, approval agencies, stakeholders and sub-consultants
Ensure client objectives and expectations are met, while maintaining project scope, budget, schedule and technical quality
Develop and maintain client relationships, both as part of project execution and business development activities
Manage the design, permitting, and construction of civil and water resources engineering projects including; stormwater management infrastructure, flood mitigation system, infrastructure, and stream / natural channel rehabilitation involving interactions with built infrastructure.
Prepare, review and oversee the preparation of technical reports supporting permitting / approvals and the preparation of contract documents including cost estimates, form of tenders, quantity estimates and specifications.
Lead a multi-disciplinary project team, mentor junior and intermediate team members, and build relationships with other business leaders
Lead the preparation of proposals, budgets, and workplans
Activelyparticipate in maintaining Matrix’s strong safety culture
Contribute to the direction of Matrix’s growthstrategy
What We Are Looking For
Appliedengineering experience in mining and / or energy sectors delivering design, permitting, and construction of civil and water resources engineering projects.
Undergraduate degree in Civil, Environmental or Water Resources Engineering
Licensed to practice as a Professional Engineer in Ontario
12+ years of engineering / project management experience, preferably in the consulting industry
Comprehensive understanding of provincial and federal legislation in relation to the water resource sector
Previous experience with AutoCAD and industry standard water resources modelling software would be an asset
Understanding of hydrology,open channel and pipe flow hydraulics
Proven success in project proposal preparation and presentations
Supportive, collaborative team player
Possess a valid Class G driver’s license and a clean driving record

We offer a comprehensive compensation package, which includes benefits, RRSP matching, vacation daysandsick days. This is a permanent position with a salary range of $102,000 to $155,000, starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location.
