Job Description - Graduate Environmental Scientist (CAN008F) :

Graduate Environmental Scientist :

As part of the Worley Graduate Community and under supervision and mentorship within the Liability, Management & Restoration (LM&R) department, you will support and assist Project Managers in all aspects of project execution including coordination, environmental monitoring, water and soil sampling of remediation and decommissioning sites.

This is a full-time position based in a designated Worley office in Calgary AB, Vancouver BC, or Markham ON.

Position is anticipated to start January 2025 or June 2025.

Responsibilities :

  • Various types of fieldwork including but not limited to surface water / groundwater monitoring and sampling, soil sampling, drilling, test pitting, remedial excavations, and reclamation.
  • Logging, texturing soils and operating various types of environmental related field equipment.
  • Collection of accurate field data using best practices and following standard operating procedures.
  • Support and assist Project Managers in all aspects of project execution including coordination and procurement of project supplies.
  • Preparation and execution of technical reports.
  • Keen safety awareness.
  • Able to perform job walks wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in an operating facility or outdoor field environment.
  • Walk long distances in uneven terrain and under varying adverse weather conditions.

Technical / Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements :

  • May have Internship experience with environmental science or engineering firm or setting.
  • Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Knowledge of the fundamental requirements of environmental science, mechanical engineering, and the basic requirements of other engineering fields.
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Willing to self-relocate to the one of the designated Worley office location areas.
  • Education Requirements :

  • Recognized BSc, MSc or Diploma degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology or related field from an accredited university or college. One remaining semester is acceptable.
  • For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is $53,699 to $78,969. Application of the pay band : Variation in salary is determined by factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
