Overview

This position will be responsible for managing components of the planning phase of a major integrated rapid transit project : Millennium Line SkyTrain Extension to UBC (UBCx). This position will also be responsible for supporting overall project management for UBCx, including internal TIC project management and the management of interfaces with the Province, technical contractors and project partners.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provides project management leadership, support, and coordination on a major project team.
  • Coordinates development and implementation of project work plans, tracking key deliverables, and milestones.
  • Provides contracts management support as required and manages technical activities where experience exists.
  • Manages meetings, activity tracking, presentations, plans, schedules, budgets, reporting, progress, comments logs and change management.
  • Identify risks (including schedule, budget, and regulatory) and support development of proactive and reactive mitigation strategies
  • Develops summary reports, presentations, and other materials as required.
  • Implements project management principles, as well as monitors and reports on progress towards shared project objectives.
  • Makes presentations, creates visuals and provides advice to senior management on project status.
  • Manages and implements projects through all phases of the project management life cycle within accepted standards and deliverables.
  • Develops and maintains a broad range of stakeholder relationships to achieve project objectives including leading sessions.
  • Establishes and maintains meaningful, supportive, and collaborative cross-discipline and project partner relationships, as well as coordination of project related activities.
  • Supports implementation of strategic initiatives in the project.
  • Oversee supporting resources as required.
  • Qualifications

  • Post secondary education in business administration, communications or planning and considerable related experience in project management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PMP certificate or designation is an asset.
  • Detail-oriented and able to handle the demands of a fast-paced Project with deadline pressures and evolving needs.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate, manage and successfully deliver work across complex project structures and / or integrated teams.
  • Experience involving a diverse range of project portfolios, schedules, and milestones.
  • Experience with principles, methods, practices, and terminology associated planning, design, engineering or construction activities on a large infrastructure project would be considered an asset.
  • Document control knowledge with records management experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, interpersonal and facilitation skills.
  • Experience with issues management and the ability to anticipate and evaluate emerging matters, and to create feasible and cost-effective solutions to support identified gaps.
  • Experience and proficiency working with the MS Office Suite (i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint), MS Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with variety of project stakeholders with often competing priorities.
  • Preference may be given to applicants who have experience with advanced planning stages of major infrastructure and / or rapid transit projects.
