Aecon Nuclear provides a full spectrum of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services, in addition to maintenance and manufacturing services tailored to meet the demanding requirements of the nuclear power industry. We hold a broad range of nuclear qualifications to support the nuclear industry with construction and maintenance services. Currently, Aecon is a major partner for both ongoing refurbishment programs at OPG and Bruce Power, and provides EPC services for many nuclear maintenance projects.
The Role
The General Manager – Nuclear Fabrication will lead Aecon’s nuclear fabrication operations supporting nuclear projects across Canada. This role is responsible for overseeing strategic planning, operational execution, and team leadership to ensure safe, high‑quality, and efficient delivery of fabricated components for nuclear projects.
What You’ll Do Here
Operational Leadership : Oversee daily fabrication operations at multiple fabrication shops, ensuring alignment with project schedules, safety standards, and quality benchmarks. Drive continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing principles across all fabrication activities.Lead continuous improvement initiatives through Aecon’s Building Smarter program, fostering innovation and operational excellence to enhance efficiency and performance.Strategic Planning & Execution : Develop and implement long‑term strategies for fabrication growth, innovation, and operational excellence. Collaborate with engineering, project management, and quality teams to ensure deliverables meet nuclear industry standards.Team Management & Development : Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team including supervisors, trades engineers, and support staff. Foster a culture of accountability, safety, quality and performance.Stakeholder Engagement : Interface with internal and external stakeholders including clients, suppliers, regulators, and senior leadership. Represent Aecon’s fabrication capabilities in project reviews, audits, and industry forums.Compliance & Quality Assurance : Ensure adherence to nuclear regulatory requirements, quality assurance protocols, and Aecon’s internal standards. Champion safety culture and environmental stewardship.Drive industry‑leading safety practices and ensure full implementation of Aecon’s Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs.Ensuring all required quality standards and programs are consistently applied.Resource & Budget Oversight : Manage budgets, resource allocation, and procurement strategies to optimize cost efficiency and production output.Training & Qualifications Oversight : Provide oversight and ensure adherence to the tracking and maintenance of training qualifications and certifications for all fabrication personnel, ensuring compliance with nuclear standards and internal competency frameworks.What You Bring To The Team
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field; or advanced technical certification preferred.Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in fabrication or manufacturing, ideally within the nuclear or heavy industrial sector.Proven track record in managing large‑scale fabrication operations, including strategic planning, team leadership, and regulatory compliance.Strong understanding of nuclear safety culture, fabrication codes (e.g., ASME, CSA), and quality systems.Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.Aecon fosters diversity, inclusion and belonging within and across our organization.
