Job Description

We are assisting out healthcare industry client with the search for a Data Engineer (Mid-level) who will join their team on a contract basis until March 31, 2025 with a strong potential to extend. This will be done Remotely.

Project Overview :

The client is undergoing a transformational project to move to an open-source analytical environment. A component of this project is to migrate existing SAS based data and information products to Python (PySpark).

Location : Toronto (Remote)

Duration : Until March 31, 2025 with a possibility of extension

Pay rates : $55-80 / HR

Expected Start date : Aug 12, 2025

Responsibilities :

  • Works closely with the teams to migrate SAS code to Python (leveraging PySpark)
  • Provide guidance to team members on creating top quality clean code and support the implementation of best practices in line with the organization's guidelines.
  • Prepares documentation required related to the migration to support transition to other team members
  • Evaluates all work is completed in compliance with the organization's Privacy and Security Policies and Procedures and migration project practices.
  • Meets timelines and milestones by monitoring deliverables. Identifies, reports and helps solve potential risks and issues.
  • Coaches and mentors other member of the team in data conversion techniques.

Requirements :

  • Must have skills : Python, PySpark, SAS (preferred)
  • Highly skilled in Python programming for data analysis, automation, and application development.
  • Proficient in Apache Spark for large-scale data processing and analytics.
  • Proficient in using Git for version control and collaborative software development.
  • Competent in writing SQL queries and managing databases.
  • Experienced in Data Engineering principles
  • Capable of automating processes to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Strong verbal communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts and ideas.
