Working Business Language : This role is considered a head-office role and will be required to communicate with internal stakeholders across Canada where the primary business language utilized is English.

Salary : At Wawanesa, salary is only one component of a holistic, comprehensive and competitive offering that we provide to our employees. Job Overview

Working under minimal direction in a collaborative and supportive team, the successful candidate will contribute to Wawanesa's success by leading an enterprising team of quality and delivery professionals whose mission is to enable Insurance & Technology teams to deliver high quality value earlier and more effectively while staying within our regulatory boundaries and risk tolerance.

By partnering with the leaders of our insurance, core systems, digital, and enterprise solution teams you will understand their objectives and aspirations and support continuous improvement in their teams' ways of working. You will also assist in defining and evolving our overall delivery model within the broader Wawanesa context, and the processes and metrics used to evaluate departmental delivery results.

The ideal candidate is a leader who is passionate about helping others achieve success. You are eager to have organizational impact and are experienced at systematically facilitating change. You are well versed in the current state of product and software delivery methodologies and experienced in applying them to improve quality and value. You also believe work should be fun and engaging and are a continuous learner who is enthusiastic about topics like agile, quality, leadership, data analysis, risk, and process improvement.

Job Responsibilities

  • Align and implement delivery practices across the organization ensuring consistency and predictability throughout the entire software development lifecycle.
  • Own and compose delivery metrics, establishing baselines and monitoring performance.
  • Integrate and align delivery and quality practices to ensure high quality is maintained consistently over time.
  • Develop existing, and attract new, industry leading talent in delivery and quality management.
  • Maintain accountability for the establishment of development and delivery plans with all the required stakeholders.
  • Manage resources to ensure successful completion of work assignments.
  • Communicate plans, progress, and deliverables to all required stakeholders.
  • Create, implement, and evolve new processes, methodologies, policies, and procedures.
  • Contribute to the building of, and execute against, the annual operational plan.
  • Maintain accountability for the maintenance of department service levels.
  • Maintain accountability for the planning and management of application and process vitality.
  • Ensure continuous improvement in operational processes.
  • Oversee and coach a team to ensure work environment is respectful, challenging, and rewarding and employees are maximized to their full potential while contributing to the achievement of the company's goals.
  • Contribute to budget preparation and management to budget as forecasted.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 5 years' experience in a senior Information Services / Information Technology role.
  • Post-secondary degree / certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding and experience in DevOps, agile practices, and / or enterprise agility frameworks.
  • Understanding and experience with quality management frameworks and approaches.
  • Understanding of relevant analysis, design, system development and maintenance tools and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in a persuasive and eloquent manner.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and prioritize a busy workload and multiple projects.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build, develop, lead, and support a diverse team.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work with a variety of people and teams and align them toward an objective.
  • Strong relationship skills with a proven ability to maintain a mutually rewarding and supportive network of peers and superiors.
  • Ability to develop effective plans that define activities, resources, timelines, and cost estimates.
  • Ability to make well justified decisions in complex and high-pressure situations.
  • Experience in the insurance / finance industry is considered an asset.
