We are currently seeking a Manager Financial Systems to join our Finance team.
The Manager, Financial Systems reports to the Associate Vice President Finance. Reporting to this position are the two Financial Systems Reporting Coordinators.
The Manager, Financial Systems is responsible for the strategic oversight, administration, and optimization of KPU’s financial systems. This role ensures that enterprise resource planning (ERP), procurement, budgeting, and reporting platforms are effectively managed to support accurate financial administration, compliance, and decision-making across the university. The Manager acts as a bridge between Financial Services, IT, and other departments, ensuring systems meet both operational and strategic needs. The Manager, Financial Systems plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficiency, integrity, and functionality of KPU’s financial and procurement operations systems. This leadership position is responsible for driving the strategic direction of financial systems in alignment with the university’s mission, goals, and objectives.
Working collaboratively with other Financial Services leaders, the Manager designs, implements, maintains, and evaluates systems and processes that support both complex and routine financial activities. They lead the Financial Systems team that is assigned to the projects, providing supervision, training, and guidance to uphold high performance standards and achieve strategic outcomes. The Manager continuously assesses and enhances financial systems to improve service delivery and operational effectiveness. A critical aspect of the role is ensuring seamless integration and performance of financial systems with external platforms.
Education and Experience
- Undergraduate degree in accounting, business administration or finance is required;
- CPA designation or equivalent is an asset;
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in financial systems management, preferably in higher education or public sector;
- Proven track record in ERP administration (e.g., Banner, Peoplesoft, WorkDay), financial reporting, and project management;
- Experience with implementation and integration of IT systems; hands-on experience leading system upgrades;
- Experience at management level leading complex projects and implementing financial processes to achieve and manage operations of such projects;
- Experience in the post-secondary sector and in a unionized environment are considered assets; Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, and financial reporting;Expertise in ERP systems (e.g., Banner, PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP); This includes maintaining and implementing financial software used for business planning, contract management, financial reporting and analysis, and financial operations especially those systems used within or in conjunction with an integrated ERP system.Strong organizational skills, the ability to perform under pressure and management of multiple priorities with competing demands for resources.Strong analytical, data processing, and problem-solving skills with proficiency in process formulation and improvement.Ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a complex environmentStrong communication skills with a proven ability to understand key financial and technical concepts and communicate effectively with finance staff, technical teams, business / academic stakeholders, and senior leadership. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills;Working experience with implementing processes to monitor regulatory requirements such as provincial and federal taxation, PCI compliance, data privacy laws (FIPPA) and procurement contracts.Ability to work in undefined areas with little or no precedent and independently take the initiative to solve problems;Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain internal and external collaborative working relationships and recognize the interests of diverse groups to facilitate excellent service;Strong leadership, project management, organizational and prioritization skills, including senior management experience managing multiple projects and deliverables;Ability to travel between campuses is required.Competencies

Salary Information
The above compensation range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position. Typically, initial salary placement is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum. This represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and approximately halfway of the salary range for a job with consideration given to internal equity.
