Responsibilities
- Welding various types of defects on Magnesium and Aluminum alloy castings
- Placing castings in pre-heated furnace
- Selecting proper electrodes, machine settings, and gas flow rates for welding rods
- Utilizing a pyrometer to ensure accurate temperatures for welding
- Cleaning and identifying weld areas
- Other duties as assigned by management

Job Requirements / Qualifications
Education Requirements : Completed a Welding Program from a recognized formal educational institution and / or be actively registered as an Apprentice Welder with documented hours of recent experience.Proven relevant welding experience with the TIG method in at least one of aluminum and / or magnesium-based alloys may also be considered for this position.Additional Experience, Knowledge and Skills
Would be an asset knowledge of welding properties with various non-friction alloys, welding rods, pre-heated temperaturesWould be an asset Knowledge of pre-heat temperatures to allow for the effects of shrinkage, warpage and expansion.Security Requirements

The ideal candidate will be able to work rotating shifts 5 days a week (Currently morning and afternoon shifts but may include overnight shifts in future)Working with electronically pre-heated furnacesWearing a welding mask and glovesWearing appropriate Protective Personal Equipment such as : Welding shield / Mask, Welding Gloves, Welding Apron, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, CSA approved footwear, respirator, etc.For a respirator to function effectively, it must form a close and secure fit to the face. Any gaps in the seal can allow airborne contaminants to bypass the respirator, reducing its protective capability.
