Engineer, Transmission and Distribution Lines – BBA Consultants
Join to apply for the Engineer, Transmission and Distribution Lines role at BBA Consultants. Our Transmission and Distribution Lines team is spread across Canada, with primary offices in Mont‑Saint‑Hilaire (head office), Toronto and Calgary. We work with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians and support staff on projects for clients in heavy industry and the private sector, both in Canada and abroad.
Type of position: Regular
Responsibilities
- Design transmission and distribution lines
- Supervise the work of engineers, technicians and drafters and provide technical support
- Act as technical project manager to deliver projects on time, on budget and to quality standards
- Develop line layouts
- Draft and manage engineering documents for transmission and distribution line projects (from 5 kV to 765 kV)
- Prepare and optimize PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE models
- Design support structures and foundations for transmission and distribution lines
- Select the required components: insulators, hardware, conductors and structures
- Lead in preparing proposals, studies, cost estimates, reports, and plans and specifications
- Help inspect existing lines and prepare inspection reports
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or electrical engineering
- At least 10 years of experience with transmission and distribution lines
- Relevant structural experience
- Technical writing skills
- Knowledge of the PLS-CADD suite
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec
- Advanced English to collaborate with BBA offices and/or clients outside Québec
