NextStar Energy (NSE) is an innovative joint venture company between LG and Stellantis. It is Canada's first large‑scale lithium‑ion battery production plant which began mass production in Windsor, Ontario. The manufacturing facility will have an annual targeted production capacity in excess of 49 gigawatt hours and will create an estimated 2,500 new jobs in Windsor and the surrounding areas.

The Millwright will be responsible for performing a variety of routine operational and maintenance tasks to ensure the facility’s efficient and safe operation. This includes but is not limited to monitoring, adjustments and reporting of equipment operation, and cleaning, repair, and basic maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoots, repairs, maintains and overhauls mechanical equipment such as condenser units, pumps, air handlers, heat exchangers, environmental control equipment, dust collectors, scrap collectors and other equipment related to utility processes.
- Maintain equipment to provide areas with specific humidity requirements (35%, 10% and 1% zones).
- Identify maintenance risks on equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical faults for utility and facility systems.
- Utilize a building automation system to detect system issues and make minor adjustments.
- Identify parts and material for repairs and consumable stock.
- Assist in planning and implementing mechanical equipment maintenance.
- Preventive maintenance execution to complete all PdM and PM tasks.
- Demonstrate problem‑solving methodology and reduce loss of utility cost.
- Initiate continuous improvement activities.
- Follow work procedures and comply with safety standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Conduct all activities and interactions in a professional manner.
Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years of experience related to maintenance of mechanical equipment.
- Industrial Mechanic Millwright trade certificate (433A).
- A valid G Driver’s License, with a clean abstract.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Willing and able to work plant shutdowns, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Willing and able to work overtime, sometimes on short notice.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience with maintenance and repair of industrial facility equipment including pumps, piping systems, boilers, water filtration, HVAC systems, dust collectors preferred.
- Demonstrated mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability required.
- Experience hoisting, rigging, moving and setting equipment of various sizes.
- Basic machining skills utilizing a mill and lathe an asset.
- Welding skills including brazing, arc, mig and tig an asset.
- Knowledge of diesel engines an asset.
- Working knowledge of computerized maintenance systems.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics and drawings.
- Be self‑motivated and demonstrate skill, initiative and judgment to make decisions and communicate these decisions with departmental supervisor for approval.
- Strong computer skills that include email, Microsoft Word and Excel.
Verification of any certification is required.
