As anOccupational Therapist (OT)on our team you are responsible for developing programs that enable individuals to participate to their fullest level in activities that occupy their daily lives. Your client-base will consist of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as well as individuals of all other ages and needs.

Job type: Hourly. Part-time
Schedule: Tuesday between 9:30AM - 5:30PM. Weekly schedule TBC based on client availability.
Work setting: Community and center-based. Travel toBurlington Oakville Mississauga and Waterloo is required.

Take an inside look at what you will do each day:

  • Assess client needs and family priorities as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Complete assessments using tools such as standardized tests criterion or curriculum referenced materials or checklists
  • Develop and implement a treatment plan for each client based on assessment results
  • Develop reports as required
  • Consult to Behaviour Analysts who supervise Applied Behaviour Analysis Programs for Children with ASD and other needs
  • Work collaboratively with the family and other community professionals
  • Maintain knowledge in current evidence-based practices
  • Collect data and make evidenced-based decisions in treatment
  • Supervise students pursuing education in Occupational Therapy
  • Represent OT department in Monarch House by contributing to clinical policies and procedures and other centre-wide visions

Here is what you will need to be successful:

  • At least 1 year experience working with children with ASD
  • Masters Degree in Occupational Therapist (OT)
  • Experience and familiarity with assessment tools (standardized tests etc.)
  • Member of college (CAOT) or CAOT eligible.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Flexibility in scheduling clients
  • Comfortable with community work and working independently with support from a regional OT team
  • Must possess a drivers license and access to a vehicle for daily use
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
