About The Role
Are you a hands-on problem solver with a background in the trades or technical work? RWDI is looking for Wind Tunnel Testing Technicians to join our Wind Tunnel Group in Guelph in a full-time, permanent position. This is a great opportunity for individuals with strong hands-on skills and a passion for working with tools, technology, and precision setups. Whether your background is in the trades, mechanical assembly, instrumentation, or technical work, this role offers a unique and rewarding challenge.
You’ll be part of a collaborative team that sets up and runs experiments in our world-class wind tunnel facilities. This role is ideal for those who enjoy working in a dynamic, technical environment where attention to detail and craftsmanship matter.
The Wind Tunnel operates two shift schedules: Monday - Friday rotating days/afternoons/nights and Friday to Sunday 12-hour day/night rotation.
Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
- Physical assembly of the test model onto the testing platform
- Physical assembly of testing sensors into the wind tunnel
- Physical connection of sensors to data acquisition equipment
- Configuration of various software programs to facilitate data collection
- Ensure physical test setup meets quality control standards
- Ensure acquired data meets quality control standards
- Communication and collaboration with internal and external team members
- Safe operation of equipment and tools
- Following SOPs in relation to handling and operating equipment and instrumentation
- Performing all duties effectively to meet project timelines
Candidates Should Possess the Following Skills:
- Hands-on skills relating to carpentry or physical assembly of components, including the use of various hand and power tools
- Technologically inclined and competent using windows-based programs
- Excellent attention to detail in both physical and computer environments
- Logical thinker with good judgement and decision-making abilities
- Ability to work with commitment and accuracy under pressure to successfully meet deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Self-starter and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Post-Secondary education in Instrumentation Technology is considered an asset
