The Leduc & District Food Bank is seeking an energetic, reliable, and adaptable Warehouse Laborer to join our team. This position works in a busy distribution and warehouse environment and requires someone who can work both independently and collaboratively, with minimal supervision, in an ever‑changing setting to meet the needs of our clients and team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload stock, including food, dry goods, and other donated items
- Sort, inspect, shelve, rotate, and organize inventory according to FIFO practices
- Pick and stage orders for agency distribution and client hampers
- Maintain, organize, and manage stock in the warehouse, freezer, and cooler as required
- Conduct basic inventory counts and report discrepancies
- Assist with receiving, labeling, and documentation of donated goods
- Operate Food Bank vehicles for pickups and deliveries
- Perform basic forklift and pallet jack operations
- Assist in other areas of the warehouse as required
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including snow removal from doors and drive areas
- Follow all warehouse safety procedures, food safety standards, and safe lifting practices
- Follow directions as required by the Executive Director and other senior staff
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
Recent experience working in a distribution, warehouse, or logistics environmentExperience handling food products and donated goods in a regulated environment is an assetForklift certification and experience operating pallet jacks are assetsFirst Aid certification is an assetBasic understanding of food handling, storage, and sanitation proceduresAbility to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing daily workloadsStrong organizational, time‑management, and attention‑to‑detail skillsAbility to work efficiently both independently and as part of a teamPhysically fit with the ability to lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs) and stand or walk for up to 8 hours per dayWorking knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and best practicesStrong interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when working with staff, volunteers, and clientsValid driver’s license with a clean driving recordAdditional Requirements
