Grocery Associate - Night

Job Overview

Reporting to the Grocery Department Manager (or delegate), the Grocery Associate - Night prepares various grocery products during night duty in advance for customers to choose from. The role includes monitoring product expiration dates, providing customer service as needed, and maintaining inventory and workplace cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Maintain inventory and product quality, follow FIFO concept; ensure full display of products
• Process expired products and manage shrinkage
• Greet customers with a smile and friendly enthusiasm, providing good customer service when applicable
• Assist customers in selecting grocery products and offer recommendations when requested
• Maintain workplace cleanliness; wash and keep relevant work tools clean and well‑kept
• Keep storage area, display cases and walk‑in cooler / freezer clean and tidy
• Be familiar with the location of various grocery items; stay updated on all promotion activities in the Grocery Department
• Perform any other duties assigned by the superior
• Flexibility to work night shifts, including weekdays, weekends and statutory holidays
• Stand for long periods and handle products of up to 40 pounds on a regular basis; use work‑related tools safely
• Work in low‑temperature environments (0–4 °C) and / or occasional freezing conditions (–18 °C)
• No allergy to handling grocery or dairy / frozen products such as milk, cheese, etc.
• Strong communication skills; proficiency in Chinese is an asset
• Knowledge of basic work safety
• Relevant experience in handling grocery products is preferred
