The Material Handler reports to the Inventory / Yard Control Supervisor and will support each of the functional areas of the Supply Chain. This role will aid in facilitating the movement of inventory throughout the yards and within the facility through supply, storage, distribution, and recording all parts and related information in order to maintain inventory organization and satisfy the needs of the internal customer.
Responsibilities
- Capable of performing all Shipper / Receiver and Material Coordinator tasks and ability to complete Receiving and Inventory Transactions in Visual.
- Picking inventory and creating kits based on Work Order requirements (able to lift up to 50lbs)
- Delivering kits and materials to appropriate work stations as requested
- Physical parts receiving and restocking shelves (able to lift up to 50lbs)
- Shipping goods (filling out proper documents, packaging)
- Unloading and loading steel, pallets, and all other materials that require the use of a Loader
- Keep Yard area clean and organized, re-organizing where necessary
- Use Work Order documents as an effective communication tool and record delays or important notes for office or internal customer
- Ensure the inventory database is within same day transactions
- Accurately inspecting and physically receiving flame cut steel
- Perform inventory Cycle Counts as requested by the Manufacturing Manager
- Able to operate warehouse forklift and loader in a safe, and productive manner an asset
- Participate in Full Inventory Counts
- Adhere to all Safety regulations

Apply excellent accounting and business processesBuild and foster excellent communications with fellow employees – specifically the Manufacturing Team, the Shipper / Receiver, Material Coordinator, and the Supervisors and Managers IIdentify trends on inventory & parts supply and communicate to the Procurement DepartmentsFacilitate problem solving and process improvement work internallyDevelop and maintain a regular cleaning and rotating schedule to ensure the parts area is well organized, labeled, etc.Communicate regularly with Internal Customer and Team Leads to ensure good practices are in place to facilitate communications between the functions.Attributes & Skills
Forklift and Loader operationAble to work autonomously and uses good decision making practicesProblem solving ability in a customer focused environmentExcellent customer service mentality (internal and external)Organizational and planning skills, experience managing equally important and competing prioritiesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsBeginner to Intermediate computer literacy with Excel, ERP, Email & Calendar Management, and Document ProductionStrong detail orientation and ability to keep data integrity through multiple transactions (verbal and data input)Able to maintain a professional and calm demeanor in challenging situationsAble to identify procedure and process improvements and advise the appropriate stakeholdersQualifications
Minimum 1 year of experience in a kitting & delivering parts, Shipping / Receiving and / or Inventory Control rolePreference given to persons with Loader experienceExperience in inventory with a ERP or database system an assetExperience with Supply Chain and Accounting processes an assetExperience at communication with various personality types and various levels of urgency or challenge, and able to adjust personal style accordinglyExperience in Manufacturing Industry an assetExperience working with steel an assetPreference will be given to candidates who reside locally in Leduc and the surrounding areaWorking Conditions
Working indoors in a temperature controlled well maintained facility most of the time.Physical Requirements
Physically fit with maximum 50 lbs (overhead crane use over 50 lbs - fitness test required)Standing on your feet for a long period of time.Sitting, bending, kneeling, and crouching.The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day.Shift Availability
