Co-op – Technical Service Associate

About the Role

The Technical Service Associate will collaborate closely with the Technical Service Team to deliver hands‑on technical assistance, repair, modification, and servicing of advanced medical systems. This is a 12‑month work term running from January to December, offering valuable industry experience in a fast‑paced, innovation‑driven environment.

The successful applicant will:

• Support the electro‑mechanical and optical repair of medical equipment, including component replacement, alignment, and verification to ensure systems perform to specification.
• Troubleshoot system failures by identifying root causes, conducting diagnostic testing, analyzing test results, and performing system and module calibrations to restore full functionality.
• Assist the Technical Service Team with the assembly, repair, and preventive maintenance of laser system modules and subassemblies, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and adherence to guidelines.
• Contribute to equipment modifications required to meet CSA electrical compliance standards, including implementing wiring updates, labeling, and component changes.
• Participate in the complete build, configuration, and setup of full medical systems, ensuring proper installation, integration, and operational readiness prior to quality verification.
• Collect, organize, and maintain technical data, measurements, and statistical information to support troubleshooting, process improvements, and service documentation.
• Prepare comprehensive service reports outlining diagnostics, repairs, and completed activities.

We are seeking a candidate with the following experience and attributes:

• Foundational skills in electronic system repair.
• Strong computer proficiency.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Currently enrolled in an Electrical, Electronics, or Photonics Engineering Technician/Technologist Co‑op program.
