The Chief Data Office in close partnership with key business partners will support the transformation of the organization to ensure data is used as a strategic asset supporting our business goals. The group’s objectives include :
A single, central source for data which is easy to access and describes how the data was obtained
Data quality continually monitored and accuracy improved
Common standards and policies for data governance
Flexible reporting tools to access data and adapt to changing business or regulatory requirements
Responsibilities :
Serve as the primary contact for all market data inquiries, work with business divisions globally to manage demand, understand their needs, and identify current / future requirements.
Build a strong partnership with partners across the organization and cultivate trusted relationships with external third-party data providers.
Support the Procurement team in their negotiation with the vendors by providing key insights and detailed recommendations.
Perform deep level analysis on market data footprints to help making informed decisions ahead of contracts renewals.
Gather and organize data to produce metrics and reporting related to market data consumption; develop data-related dashboards to track market data spending over time.
Understand how the data ecosystem is structured and how data is integrated and transformed across different platforms.
Identify duplicative data sources and look for ways to improve utilization of the data we already have.
Lead opportunities to influence data consumption behavior, consolidate usage, and standardize data use of fewer vendor products where possible to ultimately deliver incremental cost efficiencies.
Implement initiatives to streamline processes (e.g. user management, invoice validation, requirements gathering, etc.)
Collaborate with all groups within the Chief Data Office to ensure alignment across data functions and on target delivery of the group’s goals.
Continuously enhance knowledge within area of expertise and keep current with industry trends and business direction.
How will you create impact?
The Manager, Market Data Strategy & Management will directly report to the Global Head of Market Data Operations. The role entails overseeing all market data activities to ensure cost-efficient market data services across the organization. You will have a comprehensive understanding of various buy-side market data engagements and practices around ESG, ratings, pricing, exchange, reference data and index licensing for active / passive funds. What we are looking for
Prior experience in the asset management / financial industry with exposure to financial markets, instruments and products is required.
Comprehensive understanding of buy-side market data vendors ((e.g. Bloomberg, MSCI, Factset, Morningstar, S&P, etc.) and services is crucial for this position.
Ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams on complex initiatives and bridging the business and data worlds.
Solid technical skills especially around the Microsoft Suite (expert level of Excel is required) and ideally interest in Microsoft Power Apps / Automate.
Experience in database, query / programming languages and data visualization (e.g. Power BI); proficiency in data analysis along with a deep understanding of data management and governance principles is a nice to have.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy with demonstrated strong logical and technical problem-solving skills; ready to analyze complex data, identify trends and make data-driven recommendations.
Excellent communication, listening and influencing skills; successfully navigate ambiguity and varying communication styles.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and independently prioritize work.

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.
Primary Location
Toronto, Ontario
Salary range is expected to be between
84,375.00 CAD - $151,875.00 CAD
