NAIT’s WeldingApprenticeship program combines advanced technicalknowledge, welding skills, and exposureto modern technologies to give a graduate a competitive edgeinto a career in welding. From skills in fabrication to product innovationand inspection methods, students will gain foundational skillsthat are in-demand by industry.

The program is currently recruiting for a salariedinstructor who is an energetic leader, committed to student success, and haveoutstanding communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

KeyResponsibilities :

  • Prepare and present learningoutcomes and activities in a classroom, laboratory and industry setting
  • Participate in curriculumdevelopment, program reviews and course reviews
  • Facilitate the learning process byutilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective deliveryof course materials
  • Manage instructional delivery andset the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment
  • Create assessment tools to evaluatethe learning process and maintain progress records
  • Provide early and on-going coachingand tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention
  • Respond to student issues
  • Utilize appropriate educationaltechnology for presentations, communications and program promotions
  • Maintenance and / or submission ofprogram / student records accurately and promptly
  • Maintain professional and ethicalrelationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners
  • Actively participate in thestrategies of NAIT’s Strategic Plan and NAIT’s Academic Plan as identified bythe institute
  • Utilize regular student feedback toidentify and implement instructional improvement
  • Improve the quality of instructionthrough professional development activities
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Qualifications :

  • High School Diploma
  • Completion of a Welding Journeyperson certificate, B Pressure andInter-Provincial Red Seal required
  • Welding Automation training and experience would be an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years recent industry experience after completion ofJourneyperson ticket.
  • Teaching experience an asset
  • Applicants witheducation credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentialsevaluated by World Education Services or the International QualificationsAssessment Service (IQAS).

    Note : Those candidateswho are successful in the interview process will be required to performpractical testing components related to the technical portion of theposition.

    Remuneration :  Will commensurate witheducation and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

    Instructor salary grid $65,218.00 - $113,452.00annually. However, starting salary for new hires averages between $78,998.00 - $85,889.00annually based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification– Instructor).

    Thisposition is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) CollectiveAgreement
