Product Owner, Commercial Insurance

Reporting to the Manager, Commercial Insurance Product Owners, the successful candidate will lead the design and delivery of the Business and Technology Roadmap to achieve best in class customer experience and effective operational scalability, ensuring strategic goals are met by defining needs and by recommending solutions that deliver value to stakeholders.
As the conduit between Commercial Insurance, TS teams, external vendors, industry regulators, and internal stakeholders, the successful candidate will translate business objectives into actionable items to achieve company goals by empowering business units to build meaningful enhancements and release new products at the right time.
What can you expect in this role?
- Work with leaders, stakeholders and subject matter experts across the organization in alignment with strategy and architecture to define our long-term roadmap and comprehensively understand project objectives.
- Articulate and prioritize business requirements, specify acceptance criteria, identify gaps, and address dependencies as they arise.
- Perform user acceptance testing against predetermined acceptance criteria and provide business sign-off that the product meets Commercial Insurance needs after production verification is completed.
- Ensure relevant technical and business team members communicate regularly to bring high value technical recommendations and solutions to the product delivery process.
- Identify and escalate risks and issues as necessary, attend Steering Committee meetings, and communicate project status to stakeholders.
- Document cost / benefit with committed and measurable business value.
- Present user stories to stakeholders, and confirm new functionality meets the requirements and acceptance criteria of the business while also ensuring that backlog items are prioritized appropriately according to business vision and priorities.
- Complete project documentation, coordinate with the Operational Excellence team to create communication and training strategies, and facilitate training sessions as required.
- In collaboration with the Operational Excellence team, Project Management Office, and the project delivery teams, support the business roll out planning by identifying stakeholders early in the project and ensuring they are considered throughout project development and business roll out activities to minimize the change management impacts.
- Analyze systems and workflows to improve efficiency and effectiveness
- Develop and maintain positive interdepartmental relationships while mentoring Associate Product Owners.
What do you bring to the role?
University Degree or College Diploma3+ years of relevant commercial property & casualty insurance experience.Strategic thinker who demonstrates a complement of product, underwriting, and system knowledge in decision making.Expert communicator, able to ensure buy-in from stakeholders and influence all major decisions and strategy through collaboration.Strong knowledge of commercial Policy Administration Systems (Guidewire, Mainframe, etc.) and Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).Experience using applications such as Share Point, Service Now, and Jira is an asset.Self-motivated and consistently demonstrates an ability to take initiative on any issue.Professional, friendly, and courteous in all interactions with customers and co-workers.Nice to have :
Previous Full cycle project leadership experience with direct accountability for executing projects in large and complex environments.Certified Scrum Product Owner / SAFe Product Owner Designation an asset.Project Management or Agile Certification an asset.Posting Range is $74,100 - $136,500
