Competitive Math Expert

Mercor is hiring experienced Competitive Math Experts to collaborate with a leading AI lab on a groundbreaking new project.

The focus is on developing and evaluating advanced AI systems designed to reason through complex mathematical problems and simulate high-level mathematical competition reasoning.

Key Responsibilities

Contribute mathematical expertise to the design and evaluation of AI-generated reasoning and solutions

Review AI outputs on challenging mathematical tasks for accuracy, rigor, and logical soundness

Provide structured feedback on clarity, reasoning depth, and problem-solving approach

Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers to refine model reasoning and performance

Ideal Qualifications

Strong background in competition mathematics (e.g. AMC, AIME, USAMO, IMO, or Putnam-level experience)

Deep understanding of problem-solving in algebra, combinatorics, number theory, and geometry

Excellent logical reasoning and written communication skills

Background in mathematics, computer science, physics, or related field (high school, undergraduate, or graduate level welcome)

Location

Candidates must be based in the US, UK, Canada, or Australia

Project Timeline

Start Date : Immediate

Duration : 6 weeks

Commitment : Part-time (20+ hours / week)

Schedule : Fully remote and asynchronous – flexible working hours

Compensation & Contract

$80 USD / hour (independent contractor)

Top performers may receive weekly bonus incentives based on performance and throughput
