The Industrial Engineer will optimize fabrication processes by leveraging their skills to improve efficiency and productivity. They will collaborate with cross functional teams to develop production and resourcing plans, track performance metrics, and implement recovery strategies to address deviations.
This role is located in Cambridge and will support Aecon's Fabrication shops in Cambridge and Brantford.
What You'll Do Here:
- Create accurate estimates of fabrication activity durations based on material takeoffs, design, geometry, and equipment parameters
- Drive process improvement through capacity and utilization analysis, shop floor layout optimization, and implementation of lean manufacturing principles
- Perform production time analysis including takt time, cycle time and resource requirements to inform workflows, jig design, and shopfloor ergonomics
- Define maintenance and capital improvement requirements for shop equipment, including cranes, sub arc welders, and plasma cutters
- Work with equipment suppliers and service personnel to execute maintenance programs
- Perform causal analysis and develop corrective actions based on key production metrics
What You Bring to the Team:
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) Certification
- 3 to 7 years of industrial engineering experience, ideally within a fabrication environment
- A bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
- Proven record of implementing successful value-added change management programs
- Knowledge of heavy metal fabrication processes, including robotic and manual welding and jig design
- Design and execute equipment maintenance programs, including planning and execution
- Familiarity with shop floor equipment – including cranes, sub arc welders, and plasma tables

Pay Range: $115,000 - $150, 000 per year
Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
