The Biomedical Engineering Technologist ensures the application of technology to client care is accomplished in a safe, appropriate and cost-effective manner through the management and maintenance of patient care equipment, the support of hospital staff in the selection, application, interpretation and investigation of the use of technology in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Job duties will include but are not limited to :
- Respond to urgent after-hours calls related to biomedical equipment issues;
- Maintaining and safeguarding therapeutic and diagnostic electro-medical equipment of the Prince County Hospital and other facilities in the province
- Completing electrical / mechanical safety checks on patient medical devices / equipment, and systems within a hospital, clinic / health care facility
- Maintains and safeguards various electrical and mechanical equipment and systems within PCH and other facilities
- Inspecting and testing newly delivered and existing equipment and carrying out routine and preventative maintenance according to manufacturer suggested schedules, hospital safety standards and universal codes
- Maintaining records related to labor, inventory, service specifications, equipment tenders, parts and materials required in accordance with corporate policy
- Travel to other facilities to perform similar inspections or preventable maintenance as required
- Circulating advisory and recall notices from equipment manufacturers to users as required
- Conducting in-service training for staff who are directly involved in the operation of electro medical equipment
- Maintaining liaison with equipment and service representatives to ensure current awareness of design and maintenance development
- Entering data into computerized maintenance management system for repairs, parts, problems, etc.
- Maintain any service contracts associates with equipment in Biomedical service
- rotational on-call work
- Other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology or Biomedical Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institutionMust be registered or eligible for certification with the Canadian Medical & Biological Engineering Society (CMBES)Basic understanding of Anatomy, Physiology and Medical TerminologyGood knowledge of microprocessor and computer-based equipment with experience in software-controlled data acquisition and processing equipmentMust be able to maintain a high level of concentration and awareness during extended work hours or under the occasional stressful working conditionsMust have good communication and organizational skills including the ability to deal with and triage multiple urgent situations simultaneouslyMust have demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsMust have access to a reliable means of transportationMust have a good previous work and attendance recordOther Qualifications
Previous experience as a Biomedical Technologist will be considered an assetTraining or certifications in IT Operating Systems / networks will be considered an assetPlease Note

Salary Range : $33.58 - $41.53 per hour
Bi-Weekly Hours : 75.0 Hours Bi-Weekly / Monday to Friday / Days / Standby & On-Call When Required.
