Your Opportunity
As a leader in pavement engineering and infrastructure asset management, our Infrastructure Management & Pavement Engineering Group is seeking a Field Technician to support pavement investigations and data collection for pavement engineering projects across Ontario. This position is based out of our Waterloo office and involves working closely with experienced engineers and technical staff. The successful candidate will assist with field surveys, geotechnical investigations, and data collection that support pavement evaluation, design, and asset management solutions for a wide range of transportation projects.
Your Key Responsibilities
As the ideal candidate you will be responsible for assisting our team with :
Assisting with the preparation and setup of field investigations and survey activities
Supporting the collection, entry, and analysis of field and laboratory data
Assisting in geotechnical field investigations, including asphalt and concrete coring, soil sampling, and pavement condition assessments
Operating skid steers and drill rigs for data collection purposes
Assisting project teams with the successful delivery of pavement investigation and engineering projects
Supporting Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA / QC) reviews of field data and assisting with follow-up data integrity checks
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Strong mechanical skills and experience fixing or troubleshooting field equipment
Self-motivated and reliable, able to work both independently and as part of a team
Strong communication skills and a positive, safety-focused attitude
Highly organized, with strong time-management skills to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, and adapt to changing schedules
Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel throughout Ontario and Canada as required.
Education and Experience :
Previous field or technical experience in pavement engineering, geotechnical investigations, construction, or infrastructure projects is considered an asset
Experience with field data collection, heavy equipment operation, or materials testing is an asset
A Diploma in Engineering Technology is not required but would be considered an asset
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range :
Pay Transparency : In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
