Contract, Test Engineer
Our client manufactures Light Armoured Vehicles in their on-site production facility. Test Engineering works directly within Engineering to execute tests to validate internal and external customer design requirements. They are looking for a contractor who is a good communicator and problem solver who is willing to learn new things while working in a team environment.

Responsibilities
Key Job Elements :
- Assist in the setup and execution of component, sub-system and vehicle level tests Assist in the selection of appropriate instrumentation (transducers, data acquisition equipment, etc.) to satisfy test requirements
- Assemble and prepare instrumentation wiring
- Install and set up test instrumentation (transducers, wiring, data acquisition hardware, etc.) on test assets
- Operate data acquisition hardware and software during testing
- Manually record non-electronic data during testing
- Enhance test data quality through proper setup of test instrumentation (grounding, guarding, & shielding techniques, cable routing techniques, instrumentation calibrations & checks, etc.)
- Assist with test logs and files, etc. to support full and complete test documentation
- Remove test instrumentation and equipment from unit under test upon completion of testing
- Maintain instrumentation in working order
- Clean and repair instrumentation upon completion of testing
- Always conduct in-house and off-site testing activities safely in accordance with safe work practices
- Help maintain instrumentation inventory and calibration records, etc.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications :
University degree or College Diploma in relevant engineering disciplinesSuperior oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skillsAbility to travel (5% Cdn) and (5% US & International) and possess / be able to acquire and maintain a valid passportMust be able to meet Anthropometrical Size Requirements for confined space“Hands-on” experience in soldering techniques, cable and wire preparation, basic wiring and circuit techniques, small tool operation, etc.Familiarity with test equipment (oscilloscopes, multi-meters, etc.)Able to read electrical / electronic schematic drawingsSome familiarity and experience with MS Word and ExcelWilling and able to work outdoors under less-than-ideal weather conditions and surroundingsWilling and able to work extended workdays including weekends when necessaryValid driver’s permitPreferred Qualifications :
Introductory knowledge of transducers and data acquisition equipmentSome knowledge and experience in test and measurementsFamiliarity with photo and video editing software and techniquesAble to read hydraulic and pneumatic schematics and mechanical engineering drawingsDemonstrated ability to manage and perform duties with minimal supervisionBasic knowledge of setup and operation of transducers (accelerometers, pressure transducers, flowmeters, thermocouples, RTDs, Load cells, strain gauges, LVDTs, etc.) and data acquisition equipmentSummary
