Position Title : Program Coordinator, Violence Against Women Intervention and Support Services (VAWISS)
Location : Kamloops Transition House (400 Battle St, Kamloops, BC V2C 2L7)
Term : Permanent, Full-Time
Hours : 35 hours per week
Shift : Monday- Friday, with 13 weeks per year providing on-call support (24 hrs)
Start Date : As soon as possible
Salary : $72,000- $75,000 annually
Reports To : Manager, VAWISS

Nature & Scope
The Program Coordinator is a key member of the VAWISS Leadership Team and plays a central role in ensuring the effective delivery, coordination, and continuous improvement of PEACE Child & Youth Counseling, STV Outreach, and Housing Outreach programs. The position provides day‑to‑day leadership to staff and volunteers, supporting trauma‑informed, high‑quality service delivery that aligns with YMCA BC policies, government contract requirements, and the needs of individuals and families accessing services.
Working closely with the Manager, the Coordinator supports operational planning, monitors program delivery, evaluates outcomes, and implements improvements that enhance service impact. The role contributes to staff development through coaching, onboarding, participation in performance management processes, and providing guidance related to program standards and expectations. The Coordinator also assists with budgeting, financial administration, data collection and reporting, and ensures compliance with documentation and privacy.
A significant component of this position involves crisis response and front‑line support, including debriefing, managing critical incidents, and working collaboratively with emergency services when required. The Coordinator may be scheduled for direct service shifts—primarily within the Transition House—to ensure continuity of care, provide operational coverage, and support clients and staff during high‑need situations.
The role further contributes to community engagement by developing and maintaining strong relationships with local partners, agencies, and stakeholders. Through collaboration and outreach, the Coordinator helps strengthen service integration, community awareness, and access to VAWISS programs.
Major Responsibilities- in this position, you will :
