THE ROLE

Our client is looking for a Production Superintendent to work in a manufacturing plant in Delta.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Recommend and implement improvements to meet or exceed production and service demands.
  • Drive reliability and continuous improvement in manufacturing processes to improve KPIs such as waste reduction, unplanned downtime, process capability, and schedule adherence.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and efficiency in daily production operations.
  • Utilize data-driven decision-making to develop and lead action plans aimed at achieving performance metrics.
  • Develop and maintain the daily / weekly production schedule to meet operational goals.
  • Manage employee relations, including identifying training needs, updating standard operating procedures, and overseeing training, discipline, and motivation.
  • Conduct regular meetings with subordinates to review issues, policy changes, and operational updates.
  • Handle additional duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.

Process and Quality Control :

  • Ensure that manufacturing processes adhere to company specifications and standards.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Technical Department and Plant Quality Control Manager to develop and implement new processes and procedures.
  • Oversee the quality assurance process to ensure that final products meet established quality standards.
  • Communicate any technical or process changes to the Plant Manager.
  • Supervise trials for new products, processes, or raw materials to ensure successful implementation.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities :

  • Directly manage Production Supervisors and hourly production employees, setting objectives in alignment with plant strategy and vision.
  • Delegate daily tasks to Production Supervisors while ensuring team goals are met.
  • Establish, monitor, and review performance expectations to ensure alignment with company objectives.
  • Act as a backup for the Plant Manager when necessary.
  • Safety :

  • Promote and enforce safety practices among all personnel, ensuring compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Address safety concerns and unsafe conditions promptly to prevent injury or accidents.
  • Ensure overall safe operation and adherence to Process Safety Management (PSM) standards.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

  • Proficiency in PC applications, including Word, Excel, Kronos, Email, and PeopleSoft.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Competence in applying mathematical concepts and statistical methods for forecasting and process improvement.
  • Quick adaptability to changes in the workplace.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with various personnel and departments.
  • Knowledge of and experience in implementing Continuous Improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Qualification / Requirements :

  • 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing leadership role.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • OSHA compliance training is a plus.
  • Minimum of five years of general manufacturing experience required.
