Landscape Irrigation Specialist

Overview : $20.40 / hour

This is a vacant posiiton. Candidates must be a minimum age of 18 years.

You’ll also…

• Assist with the operation and installation of existing park irrigation systems to implement the turf irrigation program : ensuring maximum efficiency; appropriate schedules and application rates are applied as required to water turf grass and flower beds.
• Troubleshoot / repair various system components (heads / valves / piping).
• Assist in the installation of modifications to existing systems or the addition of new systems.
• Assist in the implementation of the turf maintenance program (top dressing, seeding, turf repair, laying sod).
• Winterizing of all irrigation systems, hoses and sprinkler heads using high pressure air compressor
• Assist with line trimming and backpack blowing as required.
• Have other opportunities to learn and expand your knowledge.

Qualifications :

You!

Minimum 2-5 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of automated / manual commercial irrigation systems

Certified Irrigation Technician status (Landscape Ontario) or equivalent is an asset

Familiarity with plumbing techniques and materials as well as turf maintenance equipment operation and practices

Individuals that are able to meet the physical requirements of the job including bending, lifting, utilizing hand tools and working in various weather conditions (must be able to lift, pull and push 20kg)

Candidates with a valid Ontario Driver’s license (class G / G2) with a clean abstract

Individuals that are able to provide their own CSA approved safety footwear

People that are able to work cooperatively in a team setting

Candidates that have a reliable source of transportation, outside of public transit

Availability to work 6 : 00am-2 : 30pm spring, summer and fall and possible shifts from 12am to 9am during the irrigation season (Monday-Friday) and occasional weekends
