Overview
PURPOSE : This position is responsible for supporting members of the safety team in the implementation and maintenance of Safety and Health Management Systems. This includes coordination with safety advisors and team leads, control and quality assurance of documents for effective processes, document retention, tracking, and monitoring of open action items.
Accountability
This position reports directly to the Senior Safety Advisor, liaises closely with Supervisors, the Field Safety Advisors and Loss Prevention Officers.
Responsibilities
- Develop processes to ensure that the database is easily accessible.
- Assist in the updating and maintenance of the incident reporting database, training database etc; in liaison with the Safety Advisors.
- Responsible for accurate and timely data entry of all health and safety related documentation into designated systems and records.
- Assist in safety practices and procedures development, formatting, and uniformity.
- Assist in proper document management of incident investigations and OH&S orders.
- Develop, prepare, instruct and / or coordinate new hire Health & Safety orientation for the Mine Site, with guidance from the field safety advisor and / or team lead.
- Assist with onsite Fit Testing for employees.
- Organize and maintain physical data records and retention.
- Prepare weekly / monthly reports to communicate accurate statistics to site personnel as required.
- Provide coverage for Loss Prevention Officer, as required.
Qualifications
Education
A high school educationPost secondary training / coursework in Administration and / or Occupational Health and Safety would be considered an asset.Experience
A minimum of 4 years’ experience in an administrative rolePrevious experience in Health and Safety Policies and Programs would be considered an asset.Proficiency in Microsoft Office application, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerpointExperience in COR auditing is considered an assetExperience with Smartsheet is considered an assetKnowledge, Skills & Abilities

This is an 18-month term position. The incumbent works at the CST Canada Coal Mine Site facility on an EDO schedule where the individual will work 9-hour days and have every second Friday off. The position is based in Grande Cache, Alberta, with no camp facilities available. The commute from Grande Cache is approximately 20 km on Highway 40 North. Some overtime, stand-by and call-outs may be required. The incumbent is in an office setting approximately 80% of the time and field work 20% of the time. As a condition of employment, pre-employment drug and medical testing is required per established policy. Personal protective equipment will include a hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots, hearing protection, respiratory protection, clothing and gloves as required.
