Reporting to the Supervisor, Technology Infrastructure, the Infrastructure Analyst is responsible for the implementation and support of the server, application and network infrastructure of the City. The System Administrator will provide assistance to members of the Information Technology (IT) team along with administering technology infrastructure solutions in accordance with industry accepted best practices.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement, maintain and support the infrastructure and technology platforms for the City that are secure, reliable, scalable and implemented in accordance with industry best practices. Provide second-tier support for technical issues, troubleshoot operational problems and perform maintenance as required.

- Manage, deploy, and operate Active Directory, Exchange Hybrid, Exchange Online , DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Virtualization Environments and Storage.
- Deploy and maintain virtual machines, file servers, print servers, encryption systems, security systems and infrastructure applications.
- Manage end user accounts, permissions, access rights and storage allocations.
- Perform and test routine system backups and restores.
- Perform system tuning and performance monitoring.
- Implement and maintain system security and apply any required security patches as required.
- Perform proactive daily checks and be available to respond to alerts and emergencies after hours.
- Coordinate with project teams to provide technical guidance to project managers, system designers, applications developers and testers throughout the development process;
- Establish and maintain documentation, standards and procedures.
- Implement and maintain service management strategies that align with the ITIL framework
- Conduct research and understand emerging trends and technology solutions, services, protocols and standards including privacy, security and regulatory compliance
Education and Experience
Diploma in computer science or a related discipline4 years of relevant IT experienceMicrosoft Certification and VMWare Certification is requiredCisco Certification, VMware / Hyper-V Certification and / or ITIL Foundations v3 is considered an assetExperience administering Microsoft Windows Server environments and VMware or Hyper-V virtualization platforms is considered an assetExperience managing and supporting the Microsoft 365 ecosystem is considered an assetRequired Skills / Knowledge
Hands-on experience with AD / DNS / DHCP / GPO using Microsoft Windows Technologies.Experience administering email environments specifically with Microsoft Exchange Hybrid and Online.Hands-on experience managing the Microsoft 365 stack, including EntraID, SharePoint Online, MS Teams, OneDrive and Intune.Experience and working knowledge of VMware virtualization technologies.Experience and working knowledge of SAN technologyHighly developed experience in planning, design, operational support, hands-on implementation and configuration of servers including backup / recovery, optimization and performance tuning.Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain an effective consulting relationship with internal and external clients with a strong customer service orientation.Experience in the development of scripts for process automation using PowerShell.Strong skills in system monitoring, root‑cause analysis, troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues, and supporting incident and change management processesYou possess highly developed leadership, team building, interpersonal, conflict resolution, negotiation, facilitation, problem solving, and communication skills.Experience in the development of scripts for process automation.
