Job Overview

Many Ready-Mix Concrete Companies in British Columbia are seeking Concrete Delivery Professionals. The objective of this position is to operate a ready-mix truck in a safe and effective

manner, while complying with all company guidelines, policies and procedures. As a ready-mix truck driver, you must safely operate in both urban and rural settings. There may be some

nuanced differences in job description / duties depending on the specific company involved in the hiring process.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate a ready-mix truck in a safe and effective manner, over a variety of terrains : up and down ramps, near crushing equipment, around other trucks, heavy equipment and on-site personnel.
• Complete a mechanical pre-check of all equipment prior to use.
• Complete any required paperwork in a timely and effective manner.
• Operate all equipment in a safe manner, adhering to all health & safety laws, policies and regulations.
• Perform other duties or tasks as assigned by management.
• Slump, deliver and discharge high quality concrete to a wide variety of different contractors or customers.
• Maintain courteous customer relations.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications :

• A class 1 or 3 license with air endorsement in good standing.
• Proven safety record while operating heavy equipment or trucks.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills while working with customers.
• Ability to understand and follow Company policies and procedures.
• Have a solid knowledge of local and provincial transportation regulations.
• A degree of mechanical aptitude for minor preventative maintenance and pre-shift inspections.
• History of being a team player.
• Ability to comply with all laws, company guidelines and policies.
• When hired, the candidate will be expected to complete the Concrete BC’s Concrete Delivery Professional (CDP) Course.

Working Conditions

This is a full-time, hourly position in an extremely high-paced environment that will require overtime shifts and weekend work.

Depending on location, hourly rates range from $28 to $38 per hour.

The successful candidate with also have the initiative to be able to work without direct supervision.

Physical Requirements

This job can be physically demanding. As such the successful candidate will be required to have :

• Strong arm, leg and back fitness.
• The ability to withstand the physical demands of being bounced and jolted while operating equipment.
• The ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
• Good depth perception and hand-eye coordination is necessary.
• The ability to lift heavy objects on a regular basis.
