We are seeking qualified individuals for the role of Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician. Please note that this is not a fly-in, fly-out position and will be based in Labrador West, NL. This position will require candidates to work a 7 on 7 off shift – 12-hour shifts (day / night).

Job Responsibilities :

  • Consistently and diligently practices workplace safety.
  • Performs take five as required by changing job conditions.
  • Follows all environmental and safety policies as well as policies outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Immediately stops, reports, and controls any environmental spills.
  • Perform maintenance on mining trucks, shovels, drill, bulldozers, graders, and other mining equipment for proper performance and inspect to detect faults and malfunctions.
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required.
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems, using hand and power tools.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications.
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.
  • Service attachments and working tools such as dump bodies, blades, and buckets.
  • Attach components and adjust new / used equipment.
  • Operates equipment safely and efficiently according to relevant legislation, policies, procedures, and work plans.
  • Performs hourly safety and maintenance checks, logs on shift report.
  • Cleans assigned area as scheduled and / or required.
  • Ensures equipment such as tools and hoses are safely and securely stored.
  • Advises Supervisor of any requirements for maintenance or repair.
  • Participates in routine maintenance as assigned.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by supervision while demonstrating authentic team player attitude.
  • Routinely makes informed judgement calls and performs work in the best interest of the business.

Perform other duties outside of equipment maintenance as required.

Skills and Qualifications :

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable with a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter with an ability to work with limited supervision

  • Excellent work ethic and attendance record
  • Able to work 12-hour shifts, 7 on, 7 off (days and nights)
  • Education

  • Secondary School – Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Program (or equivalent)
  • License

  • Valid Driver's License (Required)
