YMCA Camping and Outdoor Education offers outdoor experiences that foster personal growth and build community. After taking part in our programs, children and youth return home more confident, independent, and with new friendships. Camp Pine Crest is an overnight camp serving children, families, and organizations through naturally focused programs that embody the mission, vision, and outcomes of the YMCA. Camp Pine Crest is made up of 650 acres of Muskoka wilderness surrounded by 3 interconnected lakes with 8km of shoreline; has over 26km of hiking trails and 7,500 sq. ft. of dock and has 60 buildings.

Responsibilities

• Provide fun, engaging, and safe programs for participants and campers of all ages, including activities such as ropes courses, archery, orienteering, fire building, canoeing / kayaking, and more
• Supervise, mentor, and provide leadership to the program staff team, including writing and delivering seasonal performance appraisals, and be present within the program to ensure consistency with YMCA standards
• Assist with research and development of new summer camp programs, supporting the inventory, organization, and maintenance of all program equipment
• Ensure that all program-related expenses align with budget requirements and complete administrative tasks related to purchasing accurately and on time
• Collaborate with the year-round team and other seasonal supervisors to plan and deliver staff training, preparing all staff for their roles
• Foster strong relationships with participants, members, staff, volunteers, and community partners, representing the YMCA, Association, and Camp Pine Crest
• Monitor the safety of all activities and programs throughout the duty period, respond immediately to rectify any safety concerns, and complete YMCA Accident / Incident forms within 24 hours
• Ensure Health & Safety procedures are upheld, collaborating with the staff team to maintain a clean, organized, and safe camp environment for all participants, and provide support in kitchen and maintenance roles as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned
