The Position Details
MDA Space is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer at the MTS / Engineer level in the field of Electrical Systems EMI / EMC Design and / or EMI / EMC System / Sub-System Testing & Debugging on our Robotics & Space Operations team at our Brampton office.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Electrical Engineering Department in a variety of tasks. You will work in the Logistics & Sustaining Engineering (L&SE) program (to support On-Orbit Space Station activities), and / or the Gateway External Robotics System (GERS) program, and / or the planetary / lunar rovers’ programs, and / or R&D activities.
Duties And Responsibilities
The interested candidates do not need to be experienced in all areas below but should demonstrate knowledge in the following areas :
- EMC Engineering
- EMI / EMC testing of avionics and systems per MIL-STD-461 / DO-160 / IEC 61000 test standards, and overall awareness of EMI / EMC design principles and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficient in the use of test equipment such as logic analysers, network analysers, TDRs and VNAs, power amplifiers, etc.
- Plan, organize and lead test and measurement campaigns designed to characterize electromagnetic fields and verify compliance to system requirements
- Provide detailed scientific reports and formulate guidance for EMC hazards risk mitigation or management strategies
- Perform research, modelling and simulation in electromagnetics for Aerospace or related electronic industry
- Develop and validate electromagnetic effects software offerings for model-based systems engineering methods
- Expertise in High-Speed Signals EMC / EMI design, simulation, test and troubleshooting
- Experience with EMI Test Receiver, Spectrum Analyzer, Digital Oscilloscope, Vector Network Analyzer, Signal Generators
- Perform radiated / conducted emission measurements on system integration level
- Identify the source of emissions using near-field probes
- Review board layouts and propose solutions to reduce electromagnetic emissions
- Write, review and verify EMC test specifications, procedures and reports
- Analyze and mitigate EMI / EMC risks for new designs
- Manage EMC laboratory with open field site and Semi Anechoic Chamber
- Participate in technical and quality assurance meetings with customers to establish requirements and resolve testing / certification issues
- Pre-compliance EMC / EMI measurements in Semi Anechoic Chamber
- Perform mathematical calculations to analyze and summarize test results
- Design reviews based on electrical engineering principles
- Create test profiles in Nexio BAT-EMC, R&S Elektra, EMC32, TDK, TILE, EMC Test Automation Software
- Proficient in electrical systems design, power system analysis and electrical calculations
- Low-noise analog circuit design including sensor front-end amplifiers and data acquisition
- High-speed digital / analog board design including schematic entry, simulations, PCB layout, and support to CCA drawings
- Experience with CAD tools such as ORCAD, Altium, AutoCAD Electrical, MATLAB, PSPICE
- Testing and debugging of CCAs at board level, avionics at unit and system integration levels
- Development and verification of system-level electrical specifications and requirements
- Strong analytical, problem solving, communication and organizational skills
- Technical presentations to customers like CSA and NASA for design reviews
- Strong human relations skills and dedication to meet deadlines

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).

The compensation range for this position is $95,000 - $125,000 annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on qualifications and experience. This position qualifies for a $2,500 referral bonus.
