General / Anatomical Pathologist

Overview

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is seeking a General / Anatomical Pathologist to join its dedicated medical team on a full-time basis at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada. This is one of three full-time pathologist positions, serving a population of over 200,000 across northern and northeastern Saskatchewan.

Practice Environment : The Victoria Hospital laboratory processes more than 1.7 million tests annually, supporting a wide spectrum of diagnostic services including :

• Anatomical Pathology
• Biochemistry
• Hematology & Coagulation
• Transfusion Medicine
• Microbiology

The position is part of a cooperative team practice with colleagues in North Battleford, with access to subspecialty consultation services from Saskatoon, Calgary, and Vancouver as needed. The successful candidate will work closely with a collaborative medical team and participate in the undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education programs of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. The scope of anatomical pathology practice encompasses diagnostic evaluation of gastrointestinal, gynecological, genitourinary, dermatopathology, and breast specimens, including both biopsies and surgical resections.

Prince Albert is the 3rd largest city in Saskatchewan with a population of 39,737. Located in the broad valley of the North Saskatchewan River, near the geographical center of the province where the agricultural prairie of the south and the rich forest belt of the north meet. Highways 2, 11, 55, 302 and 3 all connect in Prince Albert. Within an hour’s drive, you will enjoy lakes, golf courses, ski trails, great fishing, hunting and other recreational opportunities.
