Procurement Specialist

The chosen candidate will have 5+ years’ experience within the construction building materials industry in a similar role. A proven track record of leadership, contract negotiations, pricing negotiations, coordination of goods and services of projects at a national level.

As Procurement Specialist you:

• Maintain estimating database of respective price lists.
• Develop and maintain supplier relationships.
• Negotiate vendor rebate/buying programs for the business or one or more of the divisions of the business.
• Prepare and coordinate RFx Process and establish sourcing strategies for large electrical equipment such as emergency power systems, distribution systems, lighting and lighting controls systems.
• Monitor and analyze supplier purchases by branch to ensure compliance with corporate commitments.
• Negotiate and implement vendor framework agreements where necessary.
• Monitor and make changes to supplier purchases to ensure rebate rate optimization.
• Analyze pricing of key commodity products so as to ensure appropriate levels in context of product, vendor and purchase region.
• Prepare regular reports.
• Investigate, analyze and promote new products/suppliers for the business.
• Monitor market activity for key commodities on a national basis.
• Monitor supplier activity on a national basis.
• Act as liaison and facilitate dispute resolution between vendors and the company management team.
• Oversee material requests from site foremen for line material.
• Work cross functionally with PM’s and estimators to determine requirements.
• Fill out PO’s and forward it to desired supplier.
• Manage purchase-to-pay process ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate and archived.

Our ideal candidate has:

• 5+ years in procurement, preferably within the building materials industry.
• College Diploma in Business, Materials Management or equivalent.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Talent in negotiations and networking
• Demonstrated expertise in negotiation and understanding of contract terms.
• Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read blueprints and electrical drawings
• Experience with ERP software, an asset.
