Designer – FTTH Network Deployment

Permanent position

Education level : DCS (Diploma of Collegial Studies) minimum. B.Sc. or B.Eng. preferred.

Specialization : Engineering, Telecommunications, Electricity, Civil or Computer Science.

Task and responsibilities : We are looking for candidates with experience in planning, design and detail engineering especially applied to deployment of FTTH / FTTC / FTTN networks and outdoor telecommunication networks.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of project manager or engineering director, you will be responsible for :

  • Participating in the planning, design and detail engineering;
  • Taking part in technical surveys;
  • Preparing technical drawings and specifications according to the clients’ requirements;
  • Preparing detailed specs and drawings;
  • Evaluating and selecting equipment suppliers;
  • Coordinating various elements of deployment projects;
  • Reviewing standards, products, installation and engineering methods;
  • Analysing and solving various technical problems;
  • Participating in project advancement meetings;
  • Working in collaboration with other groups involved in a project;
  • Technical support for the client;
  • Quality control for design documentation;
  • Managing a variety of questions and requests relative to the equipment during deployment and provisioning;
  • Working in a structured and organized environment (standards and methods).

PROFILE AND REQUIREMENTS

Minimum 5 years relevant experience in the following fields :

  • Knowledge of Quebec and Ontario specific permit procedures, support calculations, and administrative procedures to interface with various infrastructures owners and operators.
  • Outdoor networks and fibre optic deployment;
  • Optoelectronic Equipment (transport and access networks);
  • Cabling, networking and IP Solutions;
  • FTTH / FTTC / FTTN Equipment (interconnect panels, MDU, PON, etc.);
  • Knowledge of telecommunications and cable network industry standards will be an asset;
  • Capacity for technical writing;
  • Available for travel within Quebec and Canada;
  • ASP Accreditation (Health and Safety on Construction Sites) will be an asset;
  • Basic office software knowledge : Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access), MS-Project, Visio, AutoCAD.
