Role Overview :
The Projects Land Representative is a project-focused land professional responsible for leading and coordinating landowner engagement, land acquisition, and land access activities for pipe integrity and other operations and maintenance projects.
This role operates as a central land subject matter expert within project teams and is accountable, in collaboration with the Land Analyst team, for ensuring land activities are executed in alignment with company procedures and all applicable regulatory, legislative, contractual, and financial requirements.
The position works closely with internal stakeholders (incl. Legal, Projects, Environment and Regulatory, Construction, and Indigenous Relations), as well as external stakeholders such as landowners, industry representatives, and regulatory bodies, to deliver land acquisition / access and public awareness / consent programs, and to resolve escalated land related issues.
Important role distinction :
This role is most closely aligned with Land Coordinator / Land Project Management positions within industry. It emphasizes planning, coordination, strategy, and risk management over transactional field execution or analytical support functions. While experience as a field agent or land analyst is valuable, this role requires demonstrated experience leading land scope on projects from the owner / operator side .
Key Responsibilities :
Project Land Leadership
- Plan, coordinate, and execute landowner engagement and land acquisition / access activities in alignment with project and business unit objectives
- Identify land requirements, constraints, and risks associated with projects, acquisitions, and business development opportunities, and proactively mitigate or escalate issues as required
- Act as the primary land point of contact within multi‑disciplinary project teams
Cost, Vendor, and Consultant Management
Prepare and manage land cost estimates, forecasts, purchase orders, and cost accountability processesProvide direction, oversight, and performance management for third-party consultants, including land brokers and appraisers party consultantsEstablish and enforce quality standards and protocols for external service providersStrategy, Risk, and Issue Resolution
Develop land strategies, recommendations, and execution plans that consider schedule, cost, regulatory requirements, and precedent setting implicationsLead or support the resolution of complex land issues, including claims, negotiations, arbitrations, and legal actionsMaintain clear, accurate, and professional communication with internal and external stakeholdersProcess Improvement and Collaboration
Contribute to the continuous improvement of land processes, practices, and the integration of land into project execution modelsAct as a knowledge resource and mentor within the broader land and project communityQualifications and Core Competencies
