Reporting to the Field Manager, the Project Coordinator is responsible for building collaborative relationships with Indigenous community member’s and leaders across Ontario. The Project Coordinator will conduct site visits to present the project plan, and effectively communicate interests and concerns to the project team. The Project Coordinator will proactively communicate any delays in the construction schedule and find solutions to alleviate the issue(s). The successful candidate will also work with Designers to support the design process and assist the construction team to proceed on time as planned.
What You'll Do Here :
Indigenous Consultation :
- Conduct site visits to present project plan, timelines and other necessary information to Indigenous communities.
- Engages in consultation & communication to keep Indigenous communities informed about proposed activities and to gather their input on interests and concerns.
- Build and maintain relationships with Indigenous leaders, organizations, and community members throughout the project construction cycle.
- Obtain the necessary approvals and permits during the pre-construction phase.
Working with Project Team :
Coordinate project team activities and interact effectively with clients, contractors, engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders.Communicate any community concerns that may impact delays in the construction schedule proactively and find solutions to mitigate; keep track of all concerns with Field manager.Respond effectively to Designers’ enquiries / requests in efforts to support design process.Assist construction team to proceed on time as planned.Process bills and invoices based on the milestones of the associated contract.What You Bring to the Team :
Post secondary education in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Indigenous Studies.PMP / CAPM is considered an asset along with previous experience working in a similar role.At least 2 years of coordinating hydro, telecommunications, or gas utility works is considered a strong asset.At least 1-2 years of relevant experience working with Indigenous communities with knowledge of First Nation history, cultures, and forms of governance.Willingness to travel to First Nation communities in Ontario.Maintain a valid provincial driver’s license in good standing.Adequate knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, quality control, engineering drawings and other documents.Proficient with the use of computers, software, including MS Office (Word, Excel).Familiarity with AutoCAD software and experience customizing AutoCAD, scripts, tools, and Menu’s is an asset.Familiarity with billing and invoicing processes is considered an asset.Strong organizational and planning skills.Superior interpersonal and communication skills, in both written and verbal contexts.Ability to assume responsibility, and interface with others a must.Excellent safety awareness.Indigenous candidates are encouraged to apply.
