POSITION INFORMATION :
Full-time Support Staff Position Opportunity
Payband : K; Starting Rate : $44.52; Four Year Rate : $51.62
Department : IT Services ICT Infrastructure
Hours : 40 hours per week, one hour lunch; Mon Fri 8 : 30am 4 : 30pm
Reporting To : Manager, Data Centre and Infrastructure
Campus Location : Oshawa
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : The incumbent is responsible for 3rd level support for all UNIX / Linux & Windows servers, Microsoft 365 and Azure cloud infrastructure, data centre infrastructure, and systems monitoring / management infrastructure support.
A key responsibility is managing projects to completion including determining and understanding requirements, documentation & planning, providing technical solutions, strategy for implementation, and deployment.
This must be accomplished adhering to IT Services standards and procedures. A key initiative is to ensure that service levels are met with a focus on customer service.
This will be accomplished through excellent communication, follow up with the customer and system stability and compliance with ITIL best practices.
Systems Administration Management
Participate and lead in technical projects, plan change requirements and implement them with a project team with focus on Microsoft 365 and Azure cloud coordination of systems administration, management, security and configuration in conjunction with system to and effectively communicates established process & procedures to clients when necessary.
System Infrastructure Development & Maintenance
Participate in the development and ongoing maintenance of documentation for systems change control documentation and implement for updating and entering support ticket entries with clear & concise data accurately reflects the actions taken and the resolution closely with the Help desks and Tier II for problem determination.
Technical Analysis
- Act as a subject matter expert and the administrator for Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft 365 admin center.
- Provide specialized technical analysis and information in the determination of root cause, capacity planning, performance and proactive diagnostics for all aspects of systems infrastructure, including critical systems such as but not limited to SANs, servers, MRTG / Nagios, Linux / Windows operating systems, VMware virtualization and infrastructure services, Barracuda mail gateway and DNS services.
- Keep abreast of IT industry trends and changes in software and hardware technologies.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS :
1.Three-year diploma / degree in Computer Science, Information Technology.
2.Minimum 5 years’ experience with Linux and Windows Systems administration in a senior technical role, specifically with server security, web space administration, Active Directory and Exchange architecture and management, Microsoft 365 admin centre, Azure AD and Perl / BASH / SH & PowerShell scripting experience.
3.Minimum 5 years’ experience with enterprise system design and change management process.
4.Training and experience in systems and servers such as the following : Dell EQL and Compellent technologies, HP Data Protector, MS Windows Server, RHEL and Ubuntu Systems Administration and VMware virtualization and infrastructure.
Proven support skills with IBM & Dell server and SAN hardware in a large and complex data centre environment.
5.Must have the ability to multi-task and be circumspect with confidential information.
6.Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively with team members and independently.
