Join Taproot Community Support Services as a Disability Services Worker - Supported Independent Living, Full-Time.

Taproot Community Support Services works to improve the lives of persons in their communities through various programs and services. The Supportive Independent Living program in Edmonton, AB, encourages persons with developmental disabilities to maximize their independence and enjoy community integration.

The Disability Services Worker facilitates and monitors education and development programs, providing physical, behavioural, emotional, and social supports / supervision in residence and in the community. The DSW develops relationships and acts as a liaison with the community, family members, guardians, and employers.

The Position

• Support individuals with household chores, life skills, and personal hygiene (if needed).
• Must be willing to participate in community access activities.
• Provide supports as per the individual's care plan.
• Provide immediate support in crisis situations and use de-escalation techniques to deal with behaviours.
• Administer medication and first aid if / when necessary.
