Summary of responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, Adult Mental Health and Addiction Services, Residential Services, Community Addiction and Mental Health Services the successful candidate will work as a member of the “Ontario Structured Psychotherapy” team. The Master’s Prepared Therapist will provide psychotherapy to individuals who are experiencing mental health and / or concurrent disorder issues. Working closely with the “Ontario Structured Psychotherapy Program”, the Therapist will primarily deliver services within the Cognitive Behaviour Therapy approach. The Therapist will provide a range of comprehensive services including; assessment and psychotherapy and consultation with client families, peers and other professionals, including consulting psychiatrists. Other duties include writing comprehensive reports and notes, and providing education to staff, students, community agencies and the general public.
Requirements of the job
- Master’s Degree in a health related field
- Registered with a relevant Ontario College whose members may practice psychotherapy
- Minimum 3 years working experience and in-depth knowledge of delivering a range of psychotherapy interventions and treating complex mental health issues in the adult population experiencing mental health concerns
- Has received specialized CBT training and clinical supervision which has provided them the opportunity to practice and integrate advanced level psychotherapy knowledge and skills
- Excellent assessment, risk assessment, and crisis intervention techniques and ability to manage treatment efficacy
- Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with community partners
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a professional multi-disciplinary team environment
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated regular, punctual attendance
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety
- Valid driver's license
- Completion of NVCI training
- Functional level in both official languages (oral and written in English; oral French and testing completed)
