As the Industrial Sewing Machine Operator (ISMO), you will effectively and accurately measure, cut and sew various materials following all applicable instructions, policies and procedures as provided by Ben-Mor Cables Inc.

Responsibilities :

  • Operate industrial sewing machine to join sections of fabric or other articles into finished products including, but not limited to; slings, wear pads and attaching accessories;
  • Measure, cut and sew various material using pattern, measuring and cutting instruments;
  • Fit, install and secure material on work piece using hand tools, power tools, glue or staples;
  • Ensure and report on quality of material and product before, during and following all applicable processes;
  • Maintain production documentation, inventory and good housekeeping of work area(s);
  • Ability to supervise, co-ordinate and schedule (and possibly review) activities of workers;
  • Assist with providing training and instructions to new and existing employee(s) regarding job duties, safety procedures and company policies;
  • Demonstrate high level commitment to Health & Safety and maintenance of COR and ISO standards.
  • Qualifications :

  • Manitoba High School Diploma, or equivalent, considered an asset;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of production and / or manufacturing experience;
  • Minimum of one (1) year of sewing experience – personal or professional;
  • Strong familiarity with measurements, measuring tools and interpreting and following instructions;
  • Excellent time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills with great communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Manual dexterity and strong attention to detail;
  • Capability to work effectively and safely in a fast-paced and changing environment;
  • Must be professional, punctual, reliable and willingness to learn;
  • Must have ability to regularly lift, lower, carry, push and pull up to 50lbs with rotation;
  • Must be physically capable of working in various positions for lengthy periods of time (sit, bend, squat, kneel, stand)
  • Commitment to being a team player and actively participating in increasing morale and employee engagement;
  • Professional and inclusive when dealing with other employees, customers and suppliers.
  • Position conditions :

  • Day shift (8 : 00am – 4 : 30pm)
  • Permanent, full-time position
  • Repetitive work requiring sitting position
