About the Job

Our client is looking for a dedicated Geotechnical Field Technician with a minimum of 3 years of relevant field experience in Canada . The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting field investigations soil and rock sampling and data collection to support geotechnical engineering assessments. This role requires hands-on experience in geotechnical drilling field logging and material testing along with a strong commitment to safety and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

Perform field investigations including soil and rock sampling borehole logging and in-situ testing.

Conduct field tests such as Standard Penetration Tests (SPT) Permeability Tests and Cone Penetration Tests (CPT).

Collect and analyze soil rock and groundwater samples for laboratory testing.

Prepare and maintain detailed field logs records and reports of investigation findings.

Work closely with geotechnical engineers to interpret data and provide insights for project designs.

Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations on all field sites.

Coordinate with subcontractors utility locators and other team members during investigations.

Participate in laboratory testing and data analysis as required.

Assist in the preparation of technical reports and project documentation.

Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of experience in geotechnical field investigations.

Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology Geotechnical Engineering or a related field.

Strong knowledge of geotechnical testing methods and standards.

Experience with borehole drilling logging and sampling techniques.

Familiarity with geotechnical equipment including drilling rigs and field testing devices.

Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate and thorough documentation.

Strong organizational skills.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to various job sites.

Certification in health and safety protocols such as First Aid is considered an asset.
