Summary :
Reporting to Cyclotron Team Lead, the engineering technologist in this full time position will be responsible for assembling, testing and servicing cyclotrons and associated systems, both in the Vancouver facility and abroad internationally at customer sites.
What You'll Do :
The Engineering Technologist works together with a team of other technologists, engineers, and other subject-matter experts to perform the following tasks :
- Providing remote and on-site technical support to customers
- Commissioning systems at customer sites
- Assembling and testing of electro-mechanical systems per assembly drawings and schematics
- Assisting with hands-on problem-solving during fabrication, assembly, and installation of components.
- Completing support documentation including service reports and testing documents.
- Other tasks and projects as assigned by management.
What You'll Bring :
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Engineering Technologist diploma; preference for candidates with a Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering degree. Eligible to register with EGBC.Previous experience with particle accelerator technology (such as Cyclotrons or LINACs) is a strong assetMechanical and electro-mechanical system design and drafting experience is an asset.Experience and expertise in preparing and checking 2D fabrication drawings in compliance with relevant standards for dimensioning and tolerancing (ISO, CSA, and ANSI standards) is an assetExperience working in an ISO controlled development processes is an assetKNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
Working knowledge of material properties and manufacturing / fabrication technology and processes : machining, forming, assembly techniques (e.g. welding, soldering, brazing) is considered an asset.Basic understanding of Engineering documentation, improvement and revision control processes is considered an asset.Understanding of vacuum (cryogenic) systems, high voltage, or RF systems is considered an assetSelf-motivated and able to carry out assignments with limited instruction, recognize problems and take corrective action when appropriate.Ability to communicate effectively in English.Strong attention to detailFamiliar and comfortable with hand tools (such as : wrenches, drills, saws, soldering irons, wire crimpers, calipers, etc.)Proficient with assembling, testing, installing mechanical assemblies.Experience working with electronics and electrical AC / DC circuits.Ability to draft technical reports and documentation.Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).Work Environment :
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.Must be able to travel internationally for installation and service trips to customer sites.Must register as a Nuclear Energy Worker, training provided.Most work is carried out in ACSI’s office and assembly shop. Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and safety footwear must be worn in the assembly shop.Fast paced environment with production priorities that shift often to meet current demands.About Us :
