The Senior Manager, Data & Analytics, is responsible for owning and advancing ventureLAB’s data and analytics function. This role operates in a resource-constrained, execution-driven environment where prioritization, trade-off decisions, and phased delivery are critical.
This is currently a solo, senior individual-contributor role with full ownership of the data and analytics function. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing strong foundations, documenting systems and processes, and informing future hiring or outsourcing decisions.
In the first 12–18 months, the primary focus of this role will be establishing a reliable data foundation, Salesforce data architecture, and executive-level reporting. Additional capabilities will be phased in based on organizational readiness and capacity.
Responsibilities
Data Strategy & Foundations
- Define and implement ventureLAB’s data strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and reporting requirements.
- Establish data standards, definitions, documentation, and governance practices to ensure data quality, consistency, and usability.
- Design scalable data structures that support current needs while enabling future growth.
- Own Salesforce as the primary system of record for operational data, including data architecture, objects, workflows, and integrations.
- Partner with internal teams to translate operational needs into Salesforce data models and reporting structures.
- Ensure Salesforce data integrity, security, and appropriate access controls.
Analytics & Reporting
Design, build, and maintain executive dashboards, operational reports, and performance metrics.Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.Lead the preparation and delivery of quarterly business reviews and other mission-critical reports.Define an appropriate analytics architecture that may include downstream reporting tools, data models, or external analytics platforms as required.Assess when Salesforce-native reporting is sufficient versus when external analytics approaches are needed.Enablement & Adoption
Support internal teams in using data and analytics tools effectively through documentation, training, and ongoing guidance.Drive adoption of standardized reporting and data-informed decision-making across the organization.Process Improvement & Automation
Identify opportunities to streamline reporting, data collection, and analytics workflows through automation and process improvements.AI & Automation (Asset)
Experience applying AI or automation tools (e.g., GPT-based workflows) to practical use cases such as data validation, reporting automation, documentation, or internal knowledge management is considered an asset.Qualifications & Experience
7+ years of progressive experience in data, analytics, business intelligence, or related roles.Strong hands-on experience with Salesforce, including data architecture, reporting, and automation.Demonstrated ability to operate as a senior individual contributor with end-to-end ownership.Experience designing analytics and reporting solutions for executive and non-technical stakeholders.Strong analytical thinking, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., data, analytics, information systems, business, engineering).Assets : Background in data engineering or data science; Experience with analytics or BI tools (e.g., Tableau); Familiarity with tools such as Google Workspace and Formstack.Benefits
