The Maintenance provides a high standard of building maintenance, providing quality experiences and ensuring the safety of members. Working as an integral part of the centre staff team in relationship building and connecting with members, ensures excellent member relations and rapport in day-to-day interactions. All YMCA employees play a critical role in taking the opportunity to interact, involve all members, and maintain a high level of professionalism.
In this role, you will :
- Maintain and repair building equipment, respond to work orders, including painting and drywall, maintain HVAC equipment, handle fire safety and emergency equipment, and maintain lockers, surface floors, and repair plumbing as needed. Take appropriate action to rectify any problems, including coordinating third-party contractors.
- Ensure the safe and continual operation of pools, whirlpools, saunas, and steam rooms, along with related equipment, chemicals, and cleanliness, as required by relevant legislation. Take appropriate action regarding repairs.
- Perform light-duty cleaning, project cleaning, general cleaning, and laundry services.
- Ensure the safety of all members, property, and oneself by following established workplace health and safety practices and procedures. Adhere to all YMCA of Greater Toronto policies and Priority SAM cleaning and maintenance standards.
- Perform building and equipment repairs as necessary. Contact contractors as needed and provide supervision during repairs.
- Respond to all emergencies in the facility and report any maintenance issues to the Facility Manager. Function as a building operator in the absence of the Facility Supervisor / Manager.
- Provide coverage for center opening and / or closing and respond to requests for assistance during on-call duty periods as required.
- Assist with materials management related to building supplies, ensuring adequate inventory levels and ordering / replacing materials as necessary.
- Actively participate in scheduled programs, meetings, and special events.
- Implement and monitor appropriate policies and procedures to ensure safe and effective member and volunteer participation.
- Build relationships with members and seek opportunities to share the YMCA story while educating members and guests on the YMCA as a charity.
- Perform other assigned duties.
